Also, you should had considered making an endless mode with 3 lives at start, and maybe like over 60 seconds of time

This was a hell of a journey.

I admit, till the end I had doubts that you could pull it off, and I probably wasn't helpful with my constant suspicions and blabbering. But you did it. Everything worked smooth, unlike last year, and I didn't have any problems whatsoever.

I'm not really a fan of the games that require you to be on a certain day to obtain medals, but there is a sense of accomplishment after reaching the end, albeit I wonder if there's going to be some surprise additions. After all it's still week until 2020.

One random thought is that it's crazy how some people unlocked the medals within the moments they were available. Get a fucking life.

Kinda disappointed that there is lack of Fulp's nudes in the calendar, though.

Okay, enough of shit chat, let's take some alcohol and get really wasted.

Bug: when you exit the game, the screen turns black and nothing happens

Also, what the fuck is a biter? As I try to get the trickshot medal

Also, there seems to be some weird bug that happens sometimes when you reach somewhere exact 1300 points (if you get 1400 instead everything's okay) and the boss appears off screen. When you kill him, nothing new appears. Same shit happens at higher scores too.

Another problem is that somewhere around 1500+ points there's not much ground left which makes the game a little tad too frustrating. I don't think it's possible to get gamer god medal, and I don't think it was a good idea for a medal.

Trickshot medal is when you kill a Little Running (Biting) Fruggler from above, that medal needs some patching up yes. When the game progresses it gets worse and worse... Need to update it, and regular playtesting to make the whole damn thing perfect! Thanks for the review.

Okay, so finally I am 100% certain that "open 50 keys" medal is not working. I managed to get 55.

Okay, I figured it out. To skip cutscenes press block instead of space.
After the "fight" intro screen, don't press anything for a moment, until the select level screen fully loads. Then press space.

Still, the character is invisible. As in, I don't see him. I do see enemies.

huh woops. Also on the cutscene thing you should be able to press anything, but its a bit finicky as it was one of the last things to be implemented and i was awake for over 24hrs straight at that point in time lolol so i may have coded stupidly. I'll polish up a few things though thanku, like tryin to figure out what you mean when the character is invisible

What you failed to mention is that to get the first medal, you need both 103 gold, and 19 red gold! That makes a hell lot of a difference. Otherwise, the idea is good, but the execution is.... well do you really want me to say it?

EDIT: let's just say that the execution does not encourage the player to dwell for too long in the game. Hey, but the idea is cool

Yes, I want you to say it. The Medal is called 'CoAx 19/103' with the 19 in red and the 103 in yellow, so I did mention it. I just did it graphically rather than with words.

EDIT: WooHoo 213! I should make a YT Video...yep.

awful controls, and very unresponsive. hard to believe that so many people participated in it, only for it to be barely playable

Edit - You're just telling the truth. This was an old game made by Mono. I think he did a good job for the time period, but I agree with a lot of what you said.

Okay. This fucking sucks. One, controls bad. Two, too frequent bullet shooting by enemies. Three, where the fuck are checkpoints. If I die and have to start from the beginning, why not shut down the game and start again with three lives? Four, fuck the controls and fuck whoever thought this control scheme was good. Seriously. Five, don't put the game-in-progress and worse, add medals to it. Six, why are the bullets going through wall? Seven, the color scheme of level 2 is idiotic, because you can't see the enemies and the bullets from the background. Eight, the soundtrack is fucking great, I have to admit it. Nine, the game is basically boring attack spamfest with not much else to do. Ten, I fell into lava in level 2 and thought "fuck this boring as shit game, not going to bother to replay the whole fucking tedious level again, it's not worth it". I will probably add more complaints after a while, so don't worry, this is review 0.2, I will fix some bugs LATER, add some shitty controls and force you to read it. Have fun reading this review as much as I had fun playing your game.

I can't tell if you're being serious or not. I do appreciate you took the time to play the game and write this review. You make some good points. But I don't want to force anyone to play Darkhouse or to read anything I write. So you're not obliged to read this, either.

I guess I should have clarified that I've never made a game before, and I have no idea what I'm doing. The game is incomplete because I'm trying to fix my mistakes and make a good game. I just don't have the skill yet. That being said, I still intend Darkhouse to be very difficult, and it should be challenging to clear a level and find a checkpoint.

There are 11 checkpoints total, one before each level and one before each boss. They will heal you, and if you're playing Normal mode, they'll start you back there even after a game over, so you won't lose progress. If you're playing Arcade mode, you start at Level 1 after every game over.

I've gotten comments about the controls before, that they were pretty bad, and I agree. That's why I added another scheme that can be toggled in the Settings menu, and a couple alternate buttons. There was also suggestions for custom controls, but I haven't figured out how to do that yet.

The bullets that enemies shoot are on a timer, and they will fire every couple of seconds or so, depending on the level. That's part of the challenge. And you do have to be careful of bullets that go through walls, but not all of them do. The bones that skeletons throw despawn when hitting the wall or floor.

The color scheme is actually a very good point. I probably should update the graphics to make things easier to see, while still trying to match the theme. I had that problem before with Level 5.

This game isn't for everyone, and I respect your opinion about it. If you don't enjoy it, don't play it. Darkhouse is very tedious and timing-based, but it should feel rewarding to those who take the time to develop that skill. That's my intention, at least. And I'm glad you at least enjoyed the soundtrack.
